Club Sabre Competition

On Friday 26 November 2021 we will hold the club sabre competition. All club members aged 13 and over are welcome to join in and the club will provide any kit you might need, subject to availability, some sharing might be required. Casual visitors may also compete if they have fenced at the club before (they will also have to pay the usual day fee as well as the competition entry fee).

  • Check in at 8.00pm
  • There is a £5 entry fee for adult members and £3 for full time education (in addition to the regular casual fee if you are a non-member)
  • The format will be one round of pools (everyone fences everyone in their group to 5 hits). This will then seed a direct elimination bracket (DE) which goes to 15 hits. Everyone will get at least 1 DE fight. The better you do, the more fencing you will manage!
  • There will be medals and a trophy for the winners.
  • For those of you on Facebook, please RSVP to the event as this is a useful way for us to gauge some numbers.

The competition is a good way to fence people you might not normally and also let people who might not often fence a weapon a good excuse to have a bit of fun with it.

The hope is to finish the whole event in one evening, but it may have to continue the following week (3/12/21). This means that people taking part in the competition will not be doing the warm-up or footwork to allow us to get as much fencing done as possible.

Check in time will be at 8:00 pm (the usual start time for the session). The competition will begin at 8:10 pm. If you arrive after this, we may have started without you.

The rest of the hall will be available for fencers who wish to train as usual without entering the competition.

New term underway

The autumn term has started, and attendance has been good.

As the requirements relating to Covid have changed, you do not need to book online every week.  However, if at all possible please give an e-mail address on the enrolment form, so we can notify cancellations.
