Club épée competition

The club épée competition will be held on Friday 14th June, starting soon after 8PM.

All club members aged 13 and over are welcome to join in and the club will provide any kit you might need, subject to availability, some sharing might be required. Casual visitors may also compete if they have fenced at the club before (they will also have to pay the usual day fee as well as the competition entry fee).

There is a £5 entry fee for adult members and £3 for full time education. There will be medals and a trophy for the winners.

The format will be one round of pools (everyone fences everyone else in their pool to 5 hits). This will then seed a direct elimination (DE) which goes to 15 hits. Everyone will get at least 1 DE fight.

The competition is a good way to fence people you might not normally and also let people who might not often fence a weapon a good excuse to have a bit of fun with it.

The hope is to finish the whole event in one evening (by 10PM), but it will probably have to continue the following week (21st June). This means that people taking part in the competition will not be doing the warmup or footwork to allow us to get as much fencing done as possible.

Check in time will be at 8:00 pm (the usual start time for the session), with the competition starting at 8:10 pm. If you arrive after this, we may have started without you.

There is no obligation to enter and the rest of the hall will be available for fencers who wish to train without entering the competition.

N.B. The date for the 1 hit epee has been set as 5th July. Details will follow near the time.

Casual Fees

From April 2024, casual fees (for one session of fencing) will be £12, or £18 for fencers taking a lesson. These were the only fees not changed when other fees were increased in September 2022. Payment by bank transfer is accepted, see Fees page for bank details.
