Planned restart: 21st May
We plan to end our Covid
hibernation and resume fencing on 21st May! This is the first
Friday after 17th May, when new rules come in for organised sports.
We obviously have to follow hygiene rules for
borrowed club kit. I would very much appreciate it if we could have some
volunteers to help hand this out and collect it back - please e-mail me
if you are a parent or otherise able to help some weeks!
Guidelines for reducing Covid risk are set out in this page: covid.php. These include a couple of things to do in advance:
- British Fencing has ruled that everyone needs to be a member in
order to count as "organised sport": the introductory membership is
free for 90 days. You can get details at https://www.britishfencing.com/. Note that fencers at Guildford will normally be
in the South-East region.
- You need to book for each session, as there is a limit on capacity
and also so we can notify you if we have to cancel. You need 48 hours
to set up an account the first time, then it's easy - see covid.php.
I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will happen this time!
Beginners courses: 28th May
We plan to re-start beginners courses from 28th May, with a limited
number of places. Please check back here soon for enrolment
