Notice of Competition:  
South East Youth Championships  
(South East Region Qualifier for the British Youth Championships)  
3rd & 4th February 2024

The Triangle Leisure Centre, Triangle Way,  
Burgess Hill RH15 8WA  
At minimum of eight fencers in each event will qualify  
for the BYCs  
Any fencer who reached the last 8 in their event at  
the 2023 BYCs may claim a bye to fence in the 2024  
BYCs in the same weapon regardless of age group.  
Fencers claiming a bye must enter this regional  
qualifier, but do not need to fence.  
Travel  
By car - The Triangle is just off the A23 Brighton Road and is  
easily accessible. Free parking is available.  
By rail - Burgess Hill station and then a taxi or a 30 minute  
walk.  
You may only enter one regional qualifier for the BYC  
in each weapon, even if you move or live and fence  
in multiple regions.  
Entry Fee  
There may be a limit to the number of fencers in each  
category.  
£40 on or before 22nd January 2024 (includes £10 BFA levy).  
There will be no entry on the day. This regional competition is  
a qualifier for the British Youth Championships in Sheffield -  
date TBC).  
The format will be 1 round of pools followed by direct  
elimination. Subject to numbers, pools may be of  
mixed sex/age group, but will not be mixed weapon  
size.

Seeding  
Entry is via Sport80 - https://bf.sport80.com/events  
Seeding shall be created from any appropriate National  
ranking lists and then by the following criteria:  
Who Can Take Part  
First - where applicable, their finishing positions at  
the 2023 BYC finals.  
Fencers must be registered as South East on their BFA  
membership and must hold ‘compete’ British Fencing  
membership.  
Secondly - where applicable, their finishing position  
at the 2023 BYC qualifiers  
Age Groups  
Personal Equipment  
U12 – Born 2012 or 2013  
U14 – Born 2010 or 2011  
U16 – Born 2008 or 2009  
U18 – Born 2006 or 2007  
Mask bib with wire is required for any U16 & U18  
event.  
Plastron to minimum standard 800N is required for  
any U16 & U18 event.  
Check-in Times  
Breeches are mandatory across all age groups  
In the U12 & U14 competitions the maximum blade  
sizes are: Foil – size 3, Epee – size 2 and Sabre –  
size 2.  
Foil & Sabre will be on Saturday 3rd Feb.  
Epee will be on Sunday 4th Feb.  
In the U16 & U18 Foil events size 5 blades will be  
used throughout.  
Check-in times will be published on Sport80 after entries have  
closed on the 22nd January.  
In the U16 & U18 Sabre events 800N gloves will be  
required.  
Non compliance with these requirements may negate  
entry. No refund of entry-fees shall be given.
